Trend Spotting-Vintage America

You're probably well aware of this trend and whether you love it or hate it 1950s America has had a huge part to play this season with full skirts, cat-eye sunglasses and even Grease Lightning esque car prints from Prada.

I'm not really keen on the flashing of the midriff it looks great on models and Karla but it's a hard look to pull off so proceed with caution and make it your own. I plan to play about with 50s style skirts with cinched in waists like Proenza Schouler.

What are your thoughts on this trend?

Coffee Table Books

I may love my kindle to death but I still love a good coffee table book, especially fashion related ones some of them might be expensive but in my opinion they are worth it.

Here are my current favourites:

The Satorialist and Facehunter street style books and Luella Bartleys Guide to English Style take pride of place on top of my wardrobe. I get a lot of inspiration from street style blogs so it only makes sense to keep the books of two of the best known street-style bloggers above my wardrobe for those days when I'm really stuck on what to wear.

I found the top book in a charity shop for the grand sum of 99p, it's full of the lovest fashion templates from the 1st Century right up to the early 20th.

Non fashion books now, although I did use the top two in my FMP collection in college and became highly interested in the human body and medicine, bit morbid for a fashion collection but it worked.
The Banksy book is a must have for anyone interested in his work or street-art in general and the poems of Sylvia Plath are great to read whenever and whatever your mood.
Where The Wild Things Are was my favourite book as a child probably due to being cast as Max in my school play, so when my boyfriend brought this to my house I was overjoyed and I keep it close so I can have a read whenever I want.

What are your favourite coffee table books?

Pyjama Party

As tomorrow is National Wear Your Pyjamas to Work Day, I thought I'd show some of my favourite 'pyjamas as clothing' looks. It's possibly my favourite trend atm as it combines my favourite materials with pure comfort.

Jean Paul Gaultier and Diet Coke

You're probably already aware that Jean Paul Gaultier took over the realms at Diet Coke as creative director, yes even Diet Coke needs a creative director.
You've also probably seen the adverts for this pairing over the past couple of weeks which feature the memorable Diet Coke puppets in an array of mishaps that can only be solved with some Diet Coke and Gaultier's magic touch.

Today the ad campaign and bottle designs were launched, as a rather large fan of Diet Coke and JPG I will be aiming to get my hands on all 3 designs. One is kitted out in JPG trademark Breton stripes whilst another is reminisant of his infamous perfume bottle with the final design being made up of mock tattoos.

Which design do you like best?

David Beckham July Elle

It has been announced today that David Beckham will be the first male to have a solo cover in the magazines history.

I must say I'm probably one of the only females who sees nothing in David Beckham- even these half naked shots for H&M bored me, sorry Becks. I'm a bit disappointed with the choice of male but he is quite the British legend so I guess they're keeping in key with the Jubilee.

What are your opinions on Becks being on the cover on ELLE? Would you rather see him with Victoria? Who did you hope for on the cover?

Dot by Marc Jacobs

I'm a massive lover of the Marc Jacobs perfumes, between my mother and I we own all the various versions of his perfumes with my brother owning Bang, so upon discovering a brand new perfume and not just a variation of previous scents I was very excited.

Whilst I love the scents of his perfumes and the bottles, I'm a little tired of the ad campaigns with a childlike model posing with the bottle- its a somewhat dated and wouldn't make me look twice at it with a magazine.

The bottle however is lovely and looks like a ladybird so will hopefully find a place on my shelf in the near future.
